Hey guys, I just started my training, and I'm loving it so far. I'm looking for advice on flexibility. I used to be pretty flexible, but in high school got in a bad car accident, broke my pelvis and a few places, and was in a chair for a short while. I healed 110% and have had extensive followup and am in perfect health... the problem is, living a relatively sedentary lifestyle for a while, i found i have pretty bad flexibility all around. I do know this can be improved, and was wondering if you had any advice for improving this. I honestly think it will come somewhat naturally just from training, but I have started stretching everyday at home as well. On the bright side, nothing is gonna improve your flexibility quite like finding yourself on the ass end of an omoplata!

its good that ur stretching daily... if youve got the time try holding ur stretches for up to 30 seconds, do a few stretches for each muscle and try to stretch before and after training... being flexible isnt 100% necessary, but it helps alot

For me flexibility is a huge part of my game. However like Mike said it isnt required. First off make sure your doing guard flexibility stretches. Ryan Hall has a good series on stretches for guard flexibility on youtube. From my experiences the strong guys are tough but a flexible guy can just irritate the crap out of you.

Come to my beginers class on tuesdays in Huntington (7:15 pm). Ask me about strechting, I was in you position when I was younger. I got hit by a car when I was a kid, strechting helped me get back.
