Long Island Tournament Results 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 19
Congrats to all of the guys that represented Team Serra at the Long Island Pride no gi tournament this past weekend! We had a lot of guys get out there and put on a great show. Here are just a few of the competitors that competed who did extremely well.

Joe "Diesel" Lecausi - 1st Place (Joe performed flawlessly. Talk about utilizing basic BJJ. It was great to see Joe Diesel compete the way he did, he's come a long way in his training)

Abe Finkler - 1st Place (2 opponents, 1 by north/south choke and the other on points. This was Abe's firts grappling tournament, but you would never have guessed. He went out there and competed like a pro)

Steve Elizarde - 1st Place in Masters - 3rd Place Blue Belt at 170 (Stevie Stones! Takedown after takedown, his wrestling is no joke. One of his opponents was put to sleep by rear naked choke. Both Abe and Steve met at the semi-finals, however being that both are on the same team, Steve bowed out to his senior ranking teammate.)

Eric Sherman - 3rd Place (Was completely robbed of his match. TOTAL BS)

Ryan "Guillotine" Castillo (Was DQ'd after a fantastic straight leg lock, unfortunately at purple belt level, that's not allowed. Come on people, these are purple belts not white belts, let them apply straight leg locks!)

Joe "Lacross" (I don't remember what place he finished in, but I know that Joe is one tough competitor. Man this guy brings everything he has and then some. After competing in his regular division, he then went on to the absolute division. Any information on the results for Joe, please POST!)

I know there are more guys that competed, I'd like to post the news on the website in addition to the forum, so anyone that competed please post your results here on the forum!

Thanks and congrats to all Team Serra in both East Meadow and Huntington!

Technically we share the title as I did not want to face you in the finals. With my wife and kids in attendance it would have been embarrassing if you put me to sleep.

On a side note, I need to apologize to Patolino and Danny for cursing them out under my breath when they make me go against the likes of Diesel, Sherman, and Moto in a congo line every Friday night. Facing the likes of those guys and all of the advanced guys Tuesday and Friday nights for that matter really prepared me for a tournament. I was suprisingly not nervous once I hit the mat.

Thanks to all...next time I sack up and enter more divisions.
