Attending and competing at the last tournament, "Long Island Pride;" I was proud to see all the guys who came out and tested their skill in a foreign environment away from the comfort of our mats at Huntington and East Meadow. What disappointed me was that there was not a lot of us at the tournament competing and representing Team Serra BJJ.

Now I would never make fun of someone or look down on them because they do not want to compete. But I will say to all the guys who look up to the blues, the purples, the browns, and black belts and want to achieve that next level in their BJJ game the best way to climb the ranks and further your skill is by competing in the tournaments.

Some may think that this does not make sense, how will going to a tournament, maybe getting beat out the first match help me and my jujitsu game? Well I do not have a text book answer for you guys, all I can say is how I feel after the match is over, whether I win or loss something always changes within me. Call it becoming more confident or the simple fact of facing my fear this some how helps me and my jujitsu game.

Here's a test, compete at least once and the day after that tournament go and train and I promise you that you will have the best day of rolling you ever had

unfortunetly i have been working sat's so i have not been able to attend or compete but i do plan on going to the naga's in august
